0002835: $value = ereg_replace("(\r\n|\n|\r)$", '', $value); does not remove line breaks on Resin

Description

The following function call does not remove line breaks.

// Remove the trailing line break
$value = ereg_replace("(\r\n|\n|\r)$", '', $value);

It works fine on PHP but not in Resin.

I use it to remove line breaks in language string resources.
