Summary 0001460: IE6 not responding to http 304 message properly
Description We are running into a problem with ie6 and ie7 not responding properly to http 304 message from Resin Applications. If ie6/7 sends a If-Modified-Since header in a request for a static file like a .gif file the browser will not load the file from it's cache.

Is there a way to have resin not respond to If-Modified-Since headers?

This is happening on all of our servers, production and development.

This problem doesn't exist under Fire Fox, and if I proxy the IE6 thru WebScarab to see what is happening the problem goes away.

Thanks,

Evan

I just found that if you set IE6 to use http 1.0 instead of Http 1.1 the problem goes away as well. The only thing I can see different is HTTP 1.0 doesn't support chunked encoding. I can't tell is the problem is a bad header from the server, or a cache bug in IE.

I've narrowed it down some more. IE6/7 doesn't seem to like the Chunked Encoding along with the HTTP 304. I stepped back to V3.0.14 which doesn't respond with Chunked Encoding, and is well. So for now I will have to back rev to V3.0.14 until there is a work around for this problem.

Here is an example of one that is working.
