0001298: Strange behaviour in servlet-mapping

Description

This is a substract of my configuration:

<web-app id="/" document-directory="c:\data\website\html\">
  <welcome-file-list>index.html,notfound.html</welcome-file-list>
  <servlet servlet-name='website' servlet-class='prg.Wsf' />
  <servlet-mapping url-regexp='/.*.html?' servlet-name='website'/>
</web-app>

It complains about the regexp in the servlet-mapping if my url is:
http://localhost [^]
It goes fine when the url is:
http://localhost/index.html [^]
In the first case it should load the index.html automatically, but it don't
